Recycling Do’s and Don’t — The Basics

It’s time to remember some of the more overlooked do’s and don’ts of curbside recycling. Of course, you know that plastic bags and bags of any kind should be left out of your cart. They’re called tanglers. And they can get caught and wrapped up in the recycling machinery. Other material that gums up the works includes straws, bottle tops, coffee pods, plastic utensils from carry-out, paper clips, and any type of cord, rope or string. Plus, other really small items – anything smaller than a credit card – should be put in the trash. A real no-no is any type of food, food scraps or anything that can rot. If it looks like trash and can smell like trash, it’s trash! For more information, you can look on this site or go to MyDoRight.com.
