New Year’s Resolution To Lose Waste

If your New Year’s Resolution is to lose weight, good luck! You might also want to lose waste. That’s right. The Regional Recycling & Waste Reduction District takes seriously the second part of our name: Waste Reduction. The more waste we all lose, the better for our community, our public health, and the environment. And part of that sustainability strategy is to recycle, keeping valuable commodities out of landfills.

The best way to start is with the basics: Put all empty plastic bottles and jugs, cartons, and aluminum, steel, and tin cans in your curbside recycling cart. Along with paper and cardboard. Be sure to break down the cardboard so it will fit inside your cart. All of this can go in your curbside cart for a every-other-week pick-up. To help you with scheduling those recycling cart pick-ups, residential customers in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, and the unincorporated areas of Pulaski County should have received in the mail a 2022 Curbside Recycling Cart Pick-Up Calendar. (If you have any questions, or did not receive a calendar, send the District office an email at info@RegionalRecycling.org.) The calendar shows you the Green and Gold alternating recycling pick-up weeks and Blue holidays when no pick-ups will occur (noting pick-ups for that holiday week will run one day late). It also has contact information for those living in Little Rock (call 311), and those living in North Little Rock, Sherwood, and Pulaski County (call 501-565-0191). If you have cart pick-up questions or need to report a missed pick-up, give those numbers a call.

Thanks for resolving to lose waste in 2022!
