Good for Our Planet and Good for Our Economy

The New Year will continue to see the recycling industry impact not only our shared environment, but our economy and economic development. The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc., reports that this year’s study confirms what insiders already knew: The recycling industry is both an economic and an environmental boon in the U.S., as it has been for decades. The facts are these: More than half-a-million U.S. jobs can be directly or indirectly attributed to the recycling industry, representing a total of $109.78 billion in economic benefits. The industry generates nearly $5 billion in state and local revenues each year. Recycling businesses exported $20 billion in products to more than 150 countries in 2018. And over 138 million metric tons of materials were recycled in 2018 alone. Continue to do your part, for you, our community, our state, and the air we breathe and the water we drink.
