New Exhibit “Washed Ashore” at the Clinton Presidential Center

Don’t miss the great new exhibit at the Clinton Presidential Center this summer. It’s called “Washed Ashore,” and it features sculptures made of plastic and other materials retrieved from our oceans and on this country’s many beaches. It’s impressive for two reasons: First, the creativity exhibited in these interactive sculptures is worth seeing and experiencing. Second, it shows us how much junk we throw away, and that ends up in our waterways, and eventually in our oceans and on our beaches. It is a memorable way to understand the tragedy of pollution.

What it means to us locally is if, for instance, you throw out a plastic water bottle, it will most likely end up in the gutter, the storm water system, then into such streams as Fourche Creek, then to the Arkansas River, the Mississippi River, and the Gulf. Trash travels well. Come to the Clinton Center to learn more. For more information on “Washed Ashore,” go to http://bit.ly/2vrHDdD.
