Getting Rid of Hazardous Household Waste

The Regional Recycling District considers leftover household products that can catch fire or explode, or are corrosive or toxic, as household hazardous waste. Products such as fertilizer, pesticides, insecticides, used oil and gasoline, or corrosive chemicals can contain hazardous ingredients and require special care when you dispose of them. To avoid the potential risks associated with household hazardous wastes, it’s important that residential customers are careful with the use, storage and disposal of products with potentially hazardous substances. Never pour them down the drain, on the ground, into storm sewers, or put in the regular garbage. Instead, you can properly dispose of these products by dropping them off at any one of our five Green Stations. For the days and times when Green Stations are open, go to MyDoRight.com. And, if you have a question about what to do with leftover paint, give us a call at 501-340-8787.
