Recycling Old Electronics for Pulaski County Residents
Electronic waste, called e-waste, is the fastest growing part of the residential waste stream. Why? Because technology advances the capabilities of our devices – computers, flatscreen TVs and monitors, printers, mobile phones and more. It all needs to be recycled. And the old stuff, like fax machines, CD players, and TVs with tubes, need to be recycled, too. But none of these obsolete commodities should ever be put in your curbside cart. They shouldn’t go in the cart because they need to stay out of the landfill. Landfills don’t need the toxic waste like mercury, lead and cadmium contained in these old electronics. It’s all about public safety and protecting our shared environment. Attention to public safety also means we will not be holding our annual special e-waste collection this fall. We all need to stay physically distanced and not congregate at special events like this. Instead, if you are a resident of Pulaski County, please be sure to take old electronics you have to one of our five Green Stations and drop them off there. For the days and times when Green Stations are open, open, and for a list of what’s accepted, go to MyDoRight.com.
