Keeping “The Natural State” Natural
Are you enjoying all the lovely green trees this spring? We sure are. There’s rarely anything better than walking under the trees in our multiple parks, along our rivers and lakes, or driving down forest roads. Help us keep as many of those trees alive and growing across Pulaski County by recycling paper and cardboard.
According to the World Wildlife Fund, nearly four billion trees are cut down each year for the production of paper and other products. While responsible timber companies adhere to sustainability practices by replacing trees they harvest, you can help balance the environment by reducing negative impacts on the environment, including the loss of wildlife habitat, disruption of water cycles, and increased greenhouse gas emissions. Did you know that irresponsible deforestation accounts for 25% of global carbon emissions caused by human activities? Paper and wood products also account for around a quarter of all solid waste in US landfills, releasing methane while they decompose.
However, recycling lets us re-use old paper and cardboard to make new paper products. This means we can continue to protect and enjoy those stellar forest hikes we love so much in The Natural State. Learn more at FlatCardboard.com.
