Holiday Decorations Have Their Place

Celebrating the holidays means festive decorations. Wrapping paper for gifts, tree ornaments, strings of lights, wreaths, tinsel, and more. It’s fun! And with the current stay-at-home responsibilities due to the viral pandemic, making the most of where we’re spending the most time creates an enjoyable environment for all.

Speaking of the environment, please know that a holiday break in our new routines doesn’t mean there’s a break in the need to recycle, and recycle right. Remember, plastic bags, ribbons and bows, metallic or glittered wrapping paper, strings, ties, cords and hoses should never go in your curbside recycle cart. Neither should bubble and plastic wrap, food scraps, Styrofoam, clothes or clothes hangers. And don’t forget, you can and should recycle your cardboard boxes. Just break them down, flatten them out, and fit them inside your curbside cart. That will keep cardboard out of the landfill where it breaks down and releases polluting methane gas into the atmosphere.
