Happy Earth Day!
Today is Earth Day! In fact, it’s the 50th anniversary of the day-long recognition of what we all can do to help sustain our planet.
Since most of us are still at home, working from home, or caring for others in the home, we probably have adopted some new, everyday routines. Hopefully one of those new routines is identifying and recycling more loose paper, cardboard, empty plastic bottles and jugs, and empty metal cans. And paying attention to those items we can reduce and reuse, as well as things that shouldn’t be put in your curbside recycling cart. Things like food, food scraps, and carry-out food containers; plastic packing, wraps, and bags; Styrofoam; glass; clothes, and anything that can wrap or tangle.
Recognizing Earth Day and being aware of our environment – at home, outside, and when we go back to our place of work, learning, caring, or worship – just might help us follow new recycling routines. On Earth Day, and everyday. Wouldn’t it be great if that became part of our “new normal?” Happy Earth Day — Every Day!
