Creative Ways to Reuse Your Cardboard Boxes
We are just seven days away from Christmas and we know you’re out there buying Gifts! Gifts! Gifts! But what happens when you buy a lot of presents? You accumulate a lot of boxes – particularly cardboard boxes.
Now that all those boxes are in your home, you have two options: Recycle or Reuse. If you choose to hold onto them, here are some creative ways to reuse all that extra cardboard.
1. Storage Boxes – The possibilities are endless when it comes to storing things! Use them in your attic, pantry, bathroom drawers, bedroom closet, and more to keep things organized.
2. Craft Time with Kids – Build a box castle or doll house. Start a painting project. Cut out letters for wall art or even make coasters.
3. Weed Killer – That’s right you can even use cardboard in the garden! Places large pieces of cardboard around the plants you want to protect, water the cardboard immediately, and then cover with a layer of soil and mulch. It will reduce weeds drastically and eventually compost into the soil.
4. Scratching Pad – Give your cats something to scratch on other than your furniture. They will also appreciate it as their new favorite hiding and sleeping spot.
5. Gift Giving – Reuse those boxes for Christmas and birthdays to avoid buying even more boxes from the store.
6. Compost – Break your cardboard into tiny pieces, water them, and mix into the soil with other discarded vegetables. With time, everything will break down and you can use that soil as a fertilizer to grow plants.
Thanks for doing recycling right!
