Reducing and Reusing ‘Single-Use’ Plastics

Below you will find a list of commonly found single-use plastics around your home with tips on how you can reuse and reduce all together.

PLASTIC BAGS –– Reuse them as storage, trash bags, and poop bags for your dogs.

GIFT BAGS AND WRAPPING PAPER –– Save all gift bags and usable wrapping paper you receive for your birthday and Christmas and reuse them when wrapping gifts for others.

TO-GO FOOD CONTAINERS –– Do not throw out your container after a tasty meal. Save them to use as containers for other leftover food throughout the week.

DISPOSABLE DISHES & UTENSILS –– Sounds weird, but you can wash those plastic cups and utensils and reuse them again. Also, always say you do not need utensils when picking up to-go food. Simply use the ones you have at home.

BEVERAGE CONTAINERS –– This includes water and soda bottles, disposable solo cups, etc. Rinse out and reuse for drinking. Clean and use for crafts, planting seedlings and small indoor plants. Fill them up with your favorite dressing or store baking items.

FOOD AND OTHER PRODUCT PACKAGING – Buy grocery items and retail products that have packaging with closures so the package can be reused instead of thrown in the trash.
