‘Tis the Season for Recycling Cardboard
It’s that time of year again when we are out buying presents from local stores, having packages delivered to our homes, and shopping endlessly at the grocery store for all the extra people in our home.
But because of all this, more cardboard products enter our home during the month of December than any other time of year. And that’s on top of what is already in our homes! Think about it. We have cereal boxes, shoe boxes, egg cartons, pie tins, snack containers, toilet paper rolls, and paper towels. Now, add in online shopping packages, gift bags, boxes, wrapping paper, and more.
If you’re like us and need more space for holiday fun and cheer, here are four simple steps to recycling cardboard products correctly.
– First, empty your box to remove packing materials such as Styrofoam, packing peanuts, plastic bags, and tape.
– Flatten your cardboard box to save space. You can break apart your box by either using your hands or carefully using a knife or scissors.
– Put all flattened pieces of carboard in the recycling cart.
– Finally, make sure your cart is not overflowing. You should be able to close the lid.
Now that that’s done, go turn on some holiday music, watch a Christmas movie, bake some cookies, and enjoy this holiday season!
