Plastic bags on the way out

Around the country there is a big push to somehow eliminate or outright ban single-use plastic items. These single-use items include plastic grocery bags. We’re not sure if these items will be banned, but what we are sure of is that beginning in March you can recycle plastic grocery bags by taking them to one of our five Green Stations located throughout Pulaski County. But remember: Never put plastic grocery bags in your curbside recycling cart. They can’t be recycled like plastic bottles and jugs, paper, cardboard, or metal cans. So, along with electronics, glass and household hazardous waste, simply collect them in a special place in the kitchen and drop them off at a Green Station in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle, or Jacksonville. These plastic grocery bags, which are #4 plastic, and other items that can wrap around your arm, need to stay out of your curbside recycling cart and out of the landfill.
