It’s Time to Recycle Plastics
If you are at the beginning of your recycling journey, recycling plastics is a great way to start. Plastic products are everywhere in our homes and starting to recycle your plastic water bottles or plastic laundry detergent jugs will make big changes in bettering your community.
Plastic Items That Are Accepted
– #7 portable plastic beverage bottles such as reusable water bottles
– #5 plastic tubs like yogurt, butter, and sour cream containers
– #1 and #2 plastic bottles, jugs, and containers like clamshell to-go containers, water and soda bottles, salad dressing and oil bottles, plastic peanut butter jars, dishwasher, and laundry detergent jugs, and more
Remember, all plastic items must be emptied out before placing them into your curbside recycling cart!
A Good Rule to Follow
Before tossing any plastic containers into the recycling cart, double check and make sure it is labeled with one of those numbers on the bottom of the container (#1, #2, #5, and #7).
Plastics Not Accepted
Plastic grocery bags, plastic trash bags, plastic wrapping or film, and any plastic that has a different number than the ones listed above, all belong in your trash. Plastic bags are what we call tanglers, which shut down the recycling machinery. To recycle your plastic bags, drop them off at one of our Green Stations or at the plastic bag drop off bins located at the front of your local Kroger, Target, and Walmart.
