Handling Household Hazardous Waste

Seems weird to think you have hazardous waste in your home, but we all do. Products such as fertilizer, pesticides, insecticides, used motor oil, or corrosive chemicals can contain hazardous ingredients and require special care when you dispose of them.

To avoid the potential risks associated with household hazardous wastes, it’s important that residential customers are careful with the storage and disposal of these products that contain hazardous substances. First thing to note: Never pour them down the drain, on the ground, into storm sewers, or put in the regular garbage. Instead, you can properly dispose of these products by dropping them off at any Green Station.

To be specific, fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, used antifreeze, and used motor oil are all ACCEPTED.

Items NOT ACCECPTED are ammunition, explosives, fuel tanks, paint, tires, metals, and household trash.
