Giving New Life to Glass Bottles
Recycling glass bottles and jars is a simple yet impactful way to contribute to a greener Pulaski County and help create jobs in our community. Glass is 100% recyclable and can be re-manufactured over and over without losing quality. Even better, glass can be recycled right here in Pulaski County at the new EPIC Glass Recycling plant in North Little Rock. By simply placing your empty glass bottles and jars in your curbside recycling cart, you will help reduce landfill waste, conserve natural resources, and create new jobs at the glass recycling plant.
So, what do we do with your recycled glass? Old glass bottles can be made to create new bottles. It can also be turned into fiberglass insulation for homes, beads, tiles, backsplashes, and countertops. But glass recycling doesn’t stop there. Through Epic Glass Recycling, the organization transforms recycled glass into an innovative alternative to traditional gravel. This foamed glass aggregate is lightweight, fire-resistant, thermally protective, and effective for use in road construction, insulation for in-ground pipes, and other structural uses. It also saves money on hauling and overall construction costs.
Now you’re probably wondering if you can recycle any kind of glass product to help out your community. The only glass accepted in your curbside recycling cart, at Green Stations, and Epic Glass are empty glass bottles and jars that are clear, green, and brown. Glass that is not accepted for recycling is listed below:
Light Bulbs, Glass Mirrors, Dishware, Porcelain, Plexiglass, Glass Cookware, Shatter-proof Glass, Ceramic Glass, and Leaded Glass
