Doing Our Part for Recycling

Today is the Presidents Day holiday. Enjoy! And on your well-earned day off, it might be a good time to look toward Spring and outdoor activities. As consumers, one environmentally responsible thing to do is look for recreational goods made from recycled materials, particularly rubber- and plastic-based products that use recycled rubber and plastic. The more we buy recycled products, the more profitable recycling will become for businesses and jobs, and the environment.

This becomes more and more important as manufacturers who use recycled materials look at Arkansas for possible new industry locations. More industry means more jobs for Arkansans. There are several projects in the works: Outdoor furniture and decking made from recycled plastics; recycled glass aggregate; and polyester fiber made from recycled plastic bottles. It’s all possible if we do our part to recycle these raw materials.
