Cardboard is Great to Recycle (if done right)

Don’t look now, but there’s probably a cardboard box at your door. That’s because more and more of us are shopping online. And while for some time now shopping and shipping using cardboard have increased year-over-year, it has exploded during the viral pandemic. The good news is that cardboard is one of the most recyclable items there is. The other news is, that fact is of no value unless you do the recycling. So, remember to break down cardboard boxes and flatten them out to fit inside your curbside cart. This is important. From an environmental standpoint, cardboard needs to be recycled. Why? Because if it is put in landfills, as it deteriorates and chemically breaks down, cardboard contributes to global warming leading to climate change. This occurs as decomposing cardboard releases methane. Methane impacts the environment over 20 times more than carbon dioxide.
