All Things Decorative!

Nothing is more festive than holiday decorations and Christmas traditions. String of lights for decorating the home and tree, wrapping paper for gifts, delicate tree ornaments, wreaths, tinsel, and more. Isn’t it the best? And even though this time of year is festive and glittering bright, it is also a time for a lot of potential waste and opportunities for recycling.

With all these new products in our home, let’s have a refresher on what can and cannot be recycled when it comes to holiday staples. Remember, plastic bags, ribbons, and bows, metallic or glitter wrapping paper, strings, ties, cords, and hoses should never go in your curbside recycle cart. Neither should bubble and plastic wrap, food scraps, Styrofoam, ugly sweaters, or clothes hangers. You can, however, recycle cardboard boxes, the cardboard roll that’s found inside wrapping paper, paper packages from your favorite baking mix, as well as empty milk, egg, and dairy cartons.
